Digital X-Rays
Our office offers complete digital x-rays. They are
computer generated images that require up to 90% less radiation than the
traditional film type x-rays. The computer system takes a picture via a
small electronic sensor and it then instantaneoulsy transmits a picture of
the tooth onto the computer monitor within the clinic operatory. Therefore,
we can see your teeth and surrounding structures immediatly, eliminating the
wait for the films to be processed and developed. And because they are
digital, our x-ray images can be computer enhanced to provide a higher level
of diagnostic information, which in turn provides a higher level of patient
care. Digital x-rays also eliminate the need for the caustic and
enviromentally damaging solutions and chemicals needed to develope the
traditional x-ray films. Because the images are computer generated we can
email x-rays to other offices, making it very easy for Dr. Barrett to have
phone consultations with specialists or other doctors.

After Dr. Barrett preps your tooth, a reflecting powder layer is applied to
the tooth and using a camera, an optical 3D image is acquired of the tooth
and either Dr. Barrett or the assistant working with him designs your crown
within the computer and it is then milled out right in front of your eyes.
