Information for Parents

Toddler Brushing Teeth

We have put together a few suggestions for you to use before you bring your children in for their next dental
visit that will make their time with us more pleasant and much easier for them.

  • Arrange the time of the appointment so that your child is well rested and has had a well-balanced meal Do not try to explain what we will be doing at the visit.

  • We want to build a trusting relationship with your children. We have found that if we are the ones to explain procedures to children they are much more capable of being in control than you may think.

  • We like to relate to children on a one-to-one basis and feel that children behave better if their parents remain in the reception area.

  • Do not ever use the words needles, shots, or drills.

  • Avoid teasing, and such phrases as "they won't hurt you".

  • Do not relate any of your past experiences to them.

  • Most importantly, try not to transfer any dental fears you may have to your children.

Thank you for your cooperation.
